The
L.M. Montgomery Society of Ontario will be hosting a three-day conference
at Leaskdale Oct. 13-15, 2011, to celebrate the centenary anniversary
of L.M. Montgomery coming from P.E.I. to Leaskdale in 1911 as the
bride of Rev. Ewan Macdonald. The author spent the next 15 years
of her life at the Leaskdale manse where she wrote 11 of her 22
books. That included The Blue Castle which was inspired by her 1922
summer holiday in Bala. This will be a very exciting event for all
LMM scholars and anyone interested in the author of Anne of Green
Gables. Speakers will include Kevin Sullivan, creator of the award-winning
Anne TV movies, and the two editors of the Selected Journals of
L.M. Montgomery series, Dr. Mary Rubio and Dr. Elizabeth Waterston.
