The World is Waiting for the
Sunrise Jack Hutton - Mr. Eyebrows This is the book you read about in Fifty Plus Magazine. Twenty years ago this spring I started to write a book about the Canadian-written tune, The World is Waiting for the Sunrise, and its two composers, Ernest Seitz and Eugene (Gene) Lockhart.). The book is finally here. It will be off the press in early May. So how could somebody possibly devote a whole book to one tune! Well, this is no ordinary book. The first 90 pages tell the story behind The World is Waiting for the Sunrise. You'll meet Thomas Edison, Benny Goodman, Les Paul and Mary Ford, Josef Lhevinne. In the remaining 40 pages, I share my own memories as a ragtime pianist and historian. This book isn't just about music. It's also about hope and "second starts" in life. I thought the world was ending when my first wife died from a massive heart attack in 1988. A new life started for me in Muskoka two years later when I married my second wife, Linda. So we are all waiting for sunrises in our lives. |
