WE WELCOME GROUP AND BUS TOURS
On
the day that this group came from Gravenhurst Manor, they had so
much fun they didnt want to leave!
The same has
been true for hundreds of group tours who have come through Balas
Museum over the years.
We have welcomed
school tours, church groups, Community Living outings, Brownie packs,
Japanese language classes, Probus groups, Womens Institutes
just about every kind of group imaginable.
HERES A TYPICAL TOUR (ROUGHLY 45 MINUTES)
Jack
and Linda Hutton jump onto the bus the moment you arrive to welcome
you. Minutes later, you feel as if youd known them all your
life!
After talking
to you, Jack and Linda will usually split the group into two. One
group goes with Linda. The other goes with Jack.
Linda
takes her group upstairs for a talk on the Life and Times of Lucy
Maud Montgomery. Her group will see one of the worlds best
public collections of L.M. Montgomerys books (some say it
is the best). They will also see Montgomerys silver tea set
and the boat that sank under Megan Follows in the Anne of Green
Gables TV movie.
Jack shows his
group the 1920s kitchen (it always creates a flood of memories!)
and then takes them into the front room for an old-fashioned sing-along.
As an international ragtime pianist, Jack can play everything from
The Maple Leaf Rag to Broadway tunes or sing-along favorites. Jack,
who is a local church pianist/organist, is often asked to do hymn
sings.
Finally,
everyone will want time to browse through the museums Anne
of Green Gables gift shop. It is definitely the best outside P.E.I.
and one of the best in all Canada.
For those who
enjoy gardens, there is always time to admire the museums
perennial gardens. Or you can sit on the large verandah, enjoying
the country flowers that attract amateur painters and photographers
from far away. Cold drinks are available for sale in the gift shop.
IMPORTANT:
Please arrange your group tour well in advance. We can help plan
your package for the day, i.e. arranging other local attractions
for that same day and booking great places for lunch. Group leaders
and bus drivers always have free admission. Call or e-mail us to
discuss details.
