So why do people write a book? In our case, we wanted to share close to nine years of research into why Muskoka inspired LMM to write "The Blue Castle". Many delicious anecdotes had never been told. The research also gave us a fresh perspective on Maud and other life in her life. Why did Maud and her family choose Bala for a holiday in 1922? What inspired her to write "The Blue Castle"? Where are the sites mentioned in the book? Why did Maud choose an unlikely name like "Valancy" for her heroine? How many people in Bala knew that a famous Canadian author was holidaying in their midst? All those questions are answered in the book. There is also the story of our little museum, which we like to think has its own little love story. But we don't want to give away all the surprises. You'll have to read the book for yourself. Yes, the book is still available!
These LMM-related WEB sites are in our book. Have fun browsing!
